BOXOFFICE caught up with Saw V's Tobin Bell and asked him who his favorite horror movie villain is.

Since 2004, Halloween has meant candy, costumes, parties and, for moviegoers across the country, a new Saw film.

This Friday, the fifth installment of the franchise will hit theatres nationwide with the goal of successfully continuing what has become a very profitable series. After all, Saw VI is already being planned for 2009.

The first Saw film was a sleeper hit in 2004 with a domestic gross of $55.2 million and three years later Saw IV kept the series going strong by raking in $63.3 million. 2005’s Saw II remains the most successful film of the franchise with a whopping domestic haul of $87 million.

One of the key elements to Saw ’s success is actor Tobin Bell, who has turned the role of John Kramer/Jigsaw into a horror movie icon in the same vein as Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger or Jason.

For Bell, the enthusiasm surrounding the films never gets old.

“It took me 15 years or more struggling in New York before I even began to make a living as an actor, so I never take the success of these films lightly,” said Bell. “Every single one of those moments when somebody says to you, ‘Hey, you’re the man’ or ‘Hey, you’re him, I’m so pleased to meet you. I’m so excited to meet you,’ honestly, I’m excited to meet them too.”

So, which horror movie villain does Bell consider to be his favorite? That’s easy: Christopher Walken in The Dead Zone.

“Christopher Walken brings so much to the character that he plays in that film that he draws you into the film and it just totally changes the texture of [ Dead Zone ],” said Bell.

At this point, a lot of moviegoers are probably saying the same exact thing about Bell himself.
