Disney's Alice in Wonderland topped the daily box office for the 18th consecutive day on Monday. The Tim Burton directed 3D film starring Johnny Depp grossed $2.76 million for the day. That was down 72 percent from Sunday and down 54 percent from last Monday. The 18-day total for Alice in Wonderland stands at a massive $268.19 million, leaving the film just $31.81 million away from reaching the $300 million domestic mark. With Paramount's How to Train Your Dragon set to open on 3D screens on Friday, Alice in Wonderland could see a solid bump in midweek business over the next few days before it loses 3D screens to Dragon.
Sony's The Bounty Hunter was up one spot from its third place debut over the weekend to finish in second on Monday. The romantic comedy starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler grossed $1.45 million, which was down 70 percent from Sunday. The Bounty Hunter has grossed $22.14 million through four days of release. That is on the lower end of pre-release expectations and places the film 29 percent behind the pace of last year's The Ugly Truth.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid was down one spot from the weekend to place in third. Fox's modestly budgeted adaptation aimed at family audiences grossed $1.04 million. Wimpy Kid was down a sharp 83 percent from Sunday, which points towards how much the film is skewing towards younger moviegoers. Diary of a Wimpy Kid has grossed a better than expected $23.16 million in four days, but is also showcasing some early signs of front-loading for a family film.
Universal's Repo Men finished in fourth with $0.605 million. The sci-fi film starring Jude Law and Forrest Whitaker was down 63 percent from Sunday. That represented one of the day's better percentage holds among wide releases, but it means little at this point on the heels of the film's disappointing opening weekend performance. Repo Men has grossed $6.73 million in four days.
She's Out of My League rounded out Monday's top five with $0.592 million. Paramount's R-rated comedy was down 62 percent from Sunday and down 48 percent from last Monday. She's Out of My League reached the $20 million mark yesterday and has grossed $20.33 million in eleven days.
Universal's Green Zone followed closely behind with $0.571 million. The action-thriller starring Matt Damon was down 66 percent from Sunday and down 54 percent from last Monday. Green Zone has grossed a very disappointing $25.42 million in eleven days and should continue to fall off very quickly.
