'Shrek Forever After' Underwhelms; 'MacGruber' Bombs

According to BoxOffice.com's Early Weekend Estimates, it looks as though Shrek Forever After is on pace for $71 million during its debut frame, which pales in comparison to the $121.6 million opening of Shrek the Third. The fourth ogre flick raked in $20.750 million on Friday, and it was able to tally an A from CinemaScore.

MacGruber is more of a disappointment than the latest Shrek. The SNL flick won't reach even $5 million this weekend. Despite an aggressive marketing campaign and an appealing trailer, MacGruber just hasn't registered with the paying public.

Iron Man 2 looks to be headed for a respectable $26.5 million during its third weekend in theaters. The superhero sequel is definitely on pace to top the first film's $318.4 million domestic take.

Robin Hood is holding up reasonably well during its sophomore frame. Still, the period pic is being met by an unenthusiastic reception from moviegoers who are looking for modern, glossy flicks during the summer season.
