The Other Guys topped the daily box office for a fifth consecutive day on Tuesday. The Sony comedy starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg grossed $4.77 million, which was down 4 percent from Monday. That represented a stronger first-Tuesday daily hold than that of 2008's Step Brothers, which experienced a 12 percent daily slide at the same point in its run. However, it should also be noted that The Other Guys experienced the day's poorest daily hold among wide releases yesterday, as daily holds were strong across the board. The Other Guys has grossed $45.29 million in five days, placing it 14 percent ahead of the pace of Step Brothers. Look for The Other Guys to clear the $50 million mark on Thursday.

Warner's Inception remained in second with $2.62 million. The acclaimed sci-fi blockbuster was up 4 percent over Monday and down a respectable 36 percent from last Tuesday. Inception has now grossed $232.79 million through 26 days of release and will soon surpass Shrek Forever After to become the fifth highest grossing release of 2010 to date domestically.

Step Up 3D experienced a very nice Tuesday hold as the Disney sequel was up 9 percent over Monday. The 3D release held steady in third with $2.20 million. Step Up 3D topped the $20 million mark yesterday and now boasts a five-day total of $20.03 million. That places the film 22 percent behind the pace of 2006's Step Up. Step Up 3D is being helped greatly by its higher priced 3D admissions, especially with 81 percent of the film's grosses coming from its 3D screenings.

Despicable Me was up one spot and a healthy 15 percent from Monday to finish in fourth. Universal's computer animated blockbuster grossed $1.69 million, which was down 36 percent from last Tuesday. Despicable Me has grossed $212.44 million to date and will soon overtake How to Train Your Dragon to become the seventh highest grossing release of 2010 so far.

Paramount's Dinner for Schmucks was down one spot to round out the day's top five. The PG-13 comedy grossed $1.62 million, which was up only 2 percent over Monday and down a sharp 53 percent from last Tuesday. Dinner for Schmucks has grossed $49.83 million in twelve days and will cross the $50 million mark today. However, the film is likely to experience another significant decline this weekend, especially with three anticipated releases entering the marketplace on Friday.
