'The Town' Set for Easy Victory During Crowded Weekend

According to BoxOffice.com's Early Weekend Estimates, The Town is on pace for $24 million during its debut frame. That's an excellent start for Ben Affleck's second directorial gig considering that The Town will already top the $20.3 million haul that Gone Baby Gone posted during its entire domestic run. The Warner Bros. release certainly has a shot at hitting $80 million after such a great debut.

Easy A is on pace for a healthy second place finish. The teen comedy was expected to win the weekend, but it's still going to end up with a solid $19 million. Positive word-of-mouth may help the teen comedy stick around longer than other films in its genre.

Devil will debut in a disappointing third place with $12.6 million. M. Night Shyamalan's name has lost a ton of its drawing power, especially when it comes to the thriller genre. Expect Devil to fall fast in the weeks to come.

Alpha and Omega has landed with a thud. The 3D animated flick just didn't have the marketing muscle that is needed to capture the attention of younger moviegoers. The Lionsgate release won't be hanging around theaters for long.

Check back tomorrow for studio weekend estimates.
