'Social Network' Claims #1 Spot

on October 02, 2010 by Phil Contrino

According to BoxOffice.com's Early Weekend Estimates, The Social Network is on pace for a respectable $23.5 million during its debut frame. In terms of director David Fincher's debuts, Social Network ranks behind Panic Room ($30 million) and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button ($26.8 million).

It's a close race between Legend of the Guardians, The Town and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. The three films could easily swap positions by the time the weekend is over.

Let Me In and Case 39 both landed with thud. The two thrillers will end up far away from $10 million during their debut frames.

Check back tomorrow for studio weekend estimates.
