Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I was able to fend off Tangled once again on Wednesday.

‘Harry Potter’ Maintains Lead over ‘Tangled’

On Wednesday Warner's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I topped Disney's Tangled by a very slim margin for the third consecutive day. The seventh installment of the fantasy franchise grossed $1.13 million, which outpaced Tangled by $33,135. Deathly Hallows: Part I was down 12 percent from Tuesday and down 42 percent from last Wednesday. The film has grossed $248.07 million through 20 days of release and is set to clear the $250 million mark on Friday. However, Deathly Hallows: Part I is likely to experience another significant slide this weekend with Fox's The Voyage of the Dawn Treader entering the marketplace on Friday.

Tangled held steady in second place with $1.10 million. The big-budget computer animated film was down 13 percent from Tuesday and down only 19 percent from last Wednesday. That is a very good sign for the film and strongly suggests that it will hold up well over the weekend, even with the added competition for family audiences from The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. With a 15-day total gross of $99.97 million, Tangled just missed reaching the $100 million mark yesterday and will obviously reach it today instead.

Sony's Burlesque remained in third place with $0.58 million. The Screen Gems musical experienced one of the day's larger daily declines as it was down 18 percent from Tuesday. With that said, the film was still only down 29 percent from last Wednesday. Burlesque has grossed $28.80 million through 15 days and will clear the $30 million mark over the weekend.

Fox continued to claim fourth and fifth places respectively with its Love and Other Drugs and Unstoppable. Love and Other Drugs grossed $0.51 million, which was down 15 percent from Tuesday and down 31 percent from last Wednesday. Unstoppable grossed $0.43 million, which was down 14 percent from Tuesday and down 21 percent from last Wednesday. Love and Other Drugs has grossed $24.13 million in 15 days, while Unstoppable reached the $70 million mark yesterday.

Black Swan enjoyed one of the day's better daily holds of any film and returned to the top ten as a result. The Darren Aronofsky directed film from Fox Searchlight grossed $212,750 which was up 1 percent from Tuesday. With a six-day gross of $2.08 million from just 18 locations, Black Swan has clearly had the biggest box office debut of any platform release in 2010 thus far. The film will look to build momentum on Friday when it expands into additional locations.
