Paramount's True Grit rounded out the midweek with a fourth straight first place finish at the daily box office. The critically acclaimed western remake grossed $2.03 million, which was up 5 percent over Wednesday. True Grit experienced the day's strongest daily hold among wide releases. That is a strong sign for the film as it heads into its third weekend. For the week True Grit finished just behind Universal's Little Fockers with a second place weekly take of $33.18 million. True Grit has grossed $95.43 million in 16 days. The film is the favorite to win this weekend's box office race and is set to zoom past the $100 million mark in the process.

Little Fockers held steady in second place with $1.55 million. The high-profile comedy sequel was down 5 percent from Wednesday as the film continues to fall off faster than True Grit. While it finished in second place throughout the midweek, Little Fockers was the highest grossing film of the week as a whole with a weekly take of $33.39 million. However, Little Fockers fell 47 percent from the previous week (as compared to a weekly decline of just 35 percent for True Grit). The 16-day total for Little Fockers stands at a softer than expected $110.20 million.

Disney's TRON: Legacy grossed $1.34 million to remain in third. The big-budget 3D sci-fi sequel was down 3 percent from Wednesday. TRON: Legacy grossed $25.57 million for the week, which was good enough for third and was down 42 percent from the previous frame. The film's three-week total stands at $138.12 million. TRON: Legacy is set to clear the $140 million mark today and will reach $150 million after a few more days.

Black Swan remained in fourth place with $1.25 million. The Darren Aronofsky directed film was up 2 percent from Wednesday. Black Swan finished in sixth for the week with $14.18 million, which was down just 14 percent from the previous frame. Black Swan held up very nicely during the midweek and is in great shape to continue to hold up well over the weekend. The five-week total for Black Swan stands at a better than expected $53.11 million.

Paramount's The Fighter rounded out the day's unchanged top five with $1.00 million. The Oscar hopeful for Best Picture was up 1 percent over Wednesday. The Fighter took fifth place for the week with $14.46 million. Like Black Swan, The Fighter held up very nicely this week as it was down only 16 percent from the previous frame. The Fighter topped the $50 million mark yesterday and has grossed $50.84 million after 21 days of wide release.
