Limitless finished in first on Tuesday, while The Lincoln Lawyer held up very well.

Relativity's Limitless led the daily box office for a fifth straight day on Tuesday. The PG-13 thriller starring Bradley Cooper grossed $2.04 million, which was up 7 percent from Monday. Yesterday's daily hold was solid given how well the film held up on Monday. Limitless has exceeded expectations thus far with a five-day start of $22.84 million. That places the film 18 percent behind the pace 21, which had a break-out performance in the spring of 2008. Limitless is likely to hold up well this weekend, especially with Warner's Sucker Punch appearing as though it won't deliver much of an opening weekend punch.

The Lincoln Lawyer was up one spot and a healthy 16 percent over Monday to take second on Tuesday. The Lionsgate drama starring Matthew McConaughey grossed $1.39 million for the day, as it continues to display strong holding power early in its run. The Lincoln Lawyer has grossed a better than expected $15.80 million in five days of release, placing it 10 percent behind the pace of 2009's Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Look for The Lincoln Lawyer to have an especially strong second weekend hold.

Sony's Battle: Los Angeles fell one spot from Monday to finish in third with $1.22 million. The sci-fi action film continues to hold up poorly, as it was up just 1 percent over Monday and down 59 percent from last Tuesday. Battle: Los Angeles has grossed $62.98 million in twelve days of release, but should continue to fall off rapidly going forward.

Universal's Paul was up one spot and 5 percent over Monday to claim fourth with $1.13 million. While the sci-fi comedy didn't hold up as well as many other wide releases on Tuesday, it still held up reasonably well for a fan-driven film expected to be front-loaded. Paul has grossed $15.26 million through five days of release, which is in line with pre-release expectations.

Rango fell one spot to round out Tuesday's top five with $1.09 million. The big-budget computer animated film from Paramount was down 2 percent from Monday, which represented one of the day's poorer daily holds among wide releases. After holding up very nicely last week, the film's Spring Break midweek bump has clearly come down to Earth. The 19-day gross for Rango stands at $94.54 million.
