The Help grossed $1.48 million on Tuesday to lead the daily box office once again. The crowd pleasing Disney released DreamWorks film has now led the daily box office for an impressive 23 days in a row. The Help fell 72 percent from Monday, as daily declines the day after Labor Day were sharp in general. Compared to last Tuesday, The Help was down a healthy 31 percent. The Help has grossed an exceptional $125.76 million through four weeks of release and should experience a very strong hold once again this coming weekend, which is historically rare for the weekend after Labor Day.

The Debt took second place for the day with $0.94 million. The modestly budgeted Focus release starring Helen Mirren fell 68 percent from Monday. The Debt continues to outpace fellow new wide releases Apollo 18 and Shark Night 3D, which had not been expected as of this time last week. The seven-day start for The Debt stands at a very solid $15.69 million, placing it 25 percent behind the pace of last year's The American and 18 percent ahead of the pace of 2005's The Constant Gardener.

Sony's Colombiana finished in third place with $0.68 million. The action film starring Zoe Saldana fell 68 percent from Monday and 48 percent from last Tuesday. Thanks in part to a nice hold over the holiday weekend, Colombiana has grossed $24.81 million in twelve days. Colombiana will surpass the $25 million mark today and will soon zoom past the $26.59 million total domestic gross of last year's Machete.

PG-13 genre films Apollo 18 and Shark Night 3D continued to make little impact on Tuesday. The Weinstein Company's Apollo 18 grossed $0.61 million for the day to finish in fourth, while Relativity Media's Shark Night 3D finished all the way down in seventh place with $0.52 million. Both films fell 70 percent from their respective Monday grosses. Respective five-day totals and at $11.31 million for Apollo 18 and at $10.65 million for Shark Night 3D.
