The Lion King 3D continued to lead the pack at the daily box office on Wednesday with a daily take of $2.21 million. Disney's 3D re-issue of their 1994 blockbuster animated film was down 15 percent from Tuesday, which was by far the best daily hold on Wednesday among this week's four new wide releases. The Lion King 3D continues to outpace expectations in a big way with a six-day total of $37.30 million. That places the lifetime domestic gross of The Lion King at $365.84 million when including re-issues.  This coming weekend The Lion King 3D will have a very good chance of outpacing Sony's Moneyball to remain in first place.

In what continued to be a close race for second place, FilmDistrict's Drive outpaced Warner's Contagion by a very slim $5,983. Drive grossed $0.983 million, which was down 26 percent from Tuesday. The Nicolas Winding Refn directed film starring Ryan Gosling continues to run in line with expectations with a six-day start of $14.70 million. Drive is currently running 11 percent ahead of the pace of 2009's The Informant!

Contagion grossed $0.977 million to remain in third place. The Steven Soderbergh directed film starring Matt Damon fell 25 percent from Tuesday and 42 percent from last Wednesday. Thanks in part to very solid holding power so far, Contagion has grossed $47.55 million through 13 days of release. That places the film 13 percent ahead of the pace of this year's The Adjustment Bureau.

The Help held steady in fourth with $0.63 million. The Disney released surprise blockbuster from DreamWorks was down 15 percent from Tuesday and down 28 percent from last Wednesday. The Help has grossed $149.37 million in 43 days of release and is set to reach the $150 million domestic milestone either today or Friday.
