Puss In Boots managed to rake in $9.605 million on Friday, which means it's on pace to post the lowest debut of any DreamWorks Animation effort since 2007's Bee Movie opened to $38 million. Yet any talk of the film being a disappointment is premature at this timethe spin-off could rebound from this relatively slow start. Opening a film aimed at children during Halloween appears to have backfired, but families may still catch up with Puss in the weeks to come. An 83% approval rating from more than 12,500 Flixster users bodes well for the animated flick's staying power.

Justin Timberlake is not an action star. In Time took in a modest $4.625 million on Friday, and the sci-fi flick will fall short of the $18.6 million debut of Friends With Benefits, Timberlake's last star vehicle. The talented multi-hyphenate is heading in the wrong direction at the box office. A 72% approval rating from more than 17,500 Flixster users indicates that word of mouth is far from glowing.

Even Johnny Depp couldn't make mainstream crowds interested in an adaptation of novel by Hunter S. Thompson. The Rum Diary grabbed only $1.858 million on Friday. Nearly 20,000 Flixster users have combined to give the film a weak 70% approval rating.

Anonymous is off to a very slow start in limited release. The costume drama raked in a disappointing $315K on Friday. Don't expect this one to be given a healthy expansion any time soon.
