Immortals took first on Monday, while Jack and Jill and Puss in Boots continued to battle for second.

Relativity's Immortals grossed $2.44 million on Monday to lead the daily box office for a fourth consecutive day. The Tarsem Singh directed 3D action film fell 66 percent from Sunday. After experiencing a very sharp daily decline on Saturday, Immortals has stabilized quite a bit on Sunday and Monday. Thanks in part to strong 3D grosses, Immortals has exceeded pre-release expectations with a four-day start of $34.65 million. That places the film 10 percent behind the pace of 2008's 10,000 B.C.

Jack and Jill took second for the day with $1.01 million. The Adam Sandler vehicle from Sony was down a sharp 82 percent from Sunday, which is a sure sign of just how heavily the film is skewing towards family audiences. Jack and Jill has grossed $26.01 million through four days, which places the film 29 percent behind the pace of this year's Just Go with It. Jack and Jill will be hard pressed to hold up well this coming weekend in the face of massive new competition from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and Happy Feet Two.

Paramount's Puss in Boots placed in third with $0.92 million. The computer animated film from DreamWorks Animation trailed Jack and Jill by $89,853 for the day. Puss in Boots fell 85 percent from Sunday and 44 percent from last Monday. After holding up well over the past two weeks, Puss in Boots is starting to lose momentum now as Happy Feet Two quickly approaches. The 18-day total for Puss in Boots stands at $108.96 million, placing it 2 percent behind the pace of last year's Megamind.

Warner's J. Edgar was up one spot over its fifth place performance over the weekend to finish in fourth on Monday with $0.84 million. The Clint Eastwood directed biopic starring Leonardo DiCaprio fell 66 percent from Sunday and has now grossed $12.15 million after four days of wide release. With J. Edgar skewing extremely heavily towards older moviegoers, it will likely hold up reasonably well throughout the rest of the midweek.
