'Think Like A Man' Fends Off Four Newcomers

on April 28, 2012 by Phil Contrino

With $5.5 million in the bank on Friday, Think Like A Man is poised to finish in first place for the second weekend in a row. Word-of-mouth is clearly very strong for the comedy: more than 37,500 Flixster users have combined to give it a healthy 92% approval rating.

A $3.5 million Friday haul means that The Five-Year Engagement is off to a slow start. The Universal release won't even come close to the $17.7 million debut of 2008's Forgetting Sarah Marshall. More than 19,000 Flixster users have combined to give The Five-Year Engagement a lukewarm 72% approval rating.

Even though it's already posting healthy numbers abroad, The Pirates! isn't shaping up to be a huge hit in North America. The claymation flick managed on $2.75 million on Friday. 13,000+ Flixster users have combined to give The Pirates! a 72% approval rating.

Safe represents yet another modest debut for star Jason Statham. The action film raked in only $2.55 million on Friday. Word-of-mouth is solid thanks to an 81% approval rating from nearly 24,000 Flixster users.

The Raven marks another dud in the career of John Cusack. The Relativity release was able to muster only $2.52 million on Friday. A 60% approval rating on Flixster from more than 25,000 Flixster users does not bode well.
