Marvel's The Avengers easily held on to the top spot during its third weekend of domestic release. Disney announced today that it's their most successful release of all time with a worldwide cume of $1,180,400,000. The Avengers hold the second best third weekend gross behind Avatar's $68.49 million.
Battleship is off to a very weak start with around $9 million on Friday and $10 million. Universal's attempt to build their own Transformers-like franchise has clearly backfired. A 55% combined approval rating from nearly 87,000 Flixster users indicates toxic word-of-mouth.
The Dictator is also starting off slow—Sacha Baron Cohen's latest took in only $5.740 million on Friday and $6.670 million on Saturday. Nearly 35,000 Flixster users have combined to give the Paramount release a disconcerting 66% approval rating.
What to Expect When You're Expecting tallied a modest $3.86 million on Friday and $4,090 million on Saturday. More than 16,000 Flixster users have combined to give the romantic comedy a weak 60% approval rating.
