Lionsgate's The Expendables 2 took in $1.36 million on Monday. The ensemble action sequel fell 66 percent from Sunday and 51 percent from last Monday, which represented one of the day's poorer daily holds among wide releases. The Expendables 2 has grossed $53.599 million in eleven days, placing it 20 percent behind the $67.31 million ten-day start of 2010's The Expendables.
The Bourne Legacy grossed $0.93 million on Monday. The fourth installment of Universal's action thriller franchise fell 63 percent from Sunday and 46 percent from last Monday. The Bourne Legacy has grossed $86.45 million in 18 days and is now just $13.55 million away from reaching the $100 million domestic milestone.
Warner's The Dark Knight Rises grossed $0.83 million for the day. In the process, the superhero sequel surpassed 1994's The Lion King for tenth place on the all-time unadjusted domestic chart yesterday. With a 39-day take of $423.09 million, The Dark Knight Rises is set to move past the $423.32 million gross of 2006's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest today to move into ninth place on the list.
