‘The Expendables 2’ #1 on Tuesday with $1.64 Million

Lionsgate's The Expendables 2 grossed $1.64 million on Tuesday to lead the daily box office for a twelfth consecutive day. The ensemble action sequel was up 21 percent over Monday and down 49 percent from last Tuesday. With a twelve-day domestic total of $55.24 million, The Expendables 2 is running 20 percent behind the $69.39 million 12-day take of 2010's The Expendables.

Universal's The Bourne Legacy was up 16 percent from Monday to gross $1.08 million on Tuesday. The fourth installment of the action thriller franchise fell 46 percent from last Tuesday. The Bourne Legacy has grossed $87.53 million in 19 days, leaving it just $12.47 million away from reaching the $100 million domestic milestone.

Focus' ParaNorman and Disney's The Odd Life of Timothy Green continued to perform similarly on Tuesday. ParaNorman was up 16 percent over Monday to gross $1.04 million, while Timothy Green was up 17 percent to gross $0.907 million. Both films were down 40 percent from their respective Tuesday performances last week. To date, ParaNorman has grossed $30.20 million in twelve days and The Odd Life of Timothy Green has grossed $28.76 million through two weeks.

The Dark Knight Rises grossed $0.888 million for the day, which represented a 7 percent increase over Monday and a 41 percent decline from last Tuesday. In the process, Warner's superhero sequel surpassed 2006's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest yesterday to move into ninth place on the all-time unadjusted domestic chart. The 40-day domestic total for The Dark Knight Rises stands at $423.98 million, while the film's worldwide total currently stands at $959.2 million.
