Trouble with the Curve may not become as big a hit as Million Dollar Baby ($216.7 million worldwide) or Gran Torino ($269.5 million worldwide), but the baseball flick looks like it will barely squeak past End of Watch to take the #1 spot this weekend. The Warner Bros. release took in $4.2 million on Friday.

End of Watch managed $4.6 million on Friday, but it probably won't hold up as well on Saturday as Trouble with the Curve. The cop drama could still end up giving distributor Open Road its second #1 debut. (The first was The Grey.)

House at the End of the Street grabbed $4.64 million on Friday, but it should fall fast like most horror films. The opening neither hurts nor advances the career of start Jennifer Lawrence.

Dredd 3D is off to a very lackluster start. The bleak sci-fi flick took in only $2.23 million on Friday.

The Master managed a solid $1.4 million on Friday. Oscar buzz will help the film rake in steady business in the weeks to come.
