Warner's Argo grossed $1.45 million on Wednesday to lead the Halloween day box office. The awards season hopeful didn't experience the type of Halloween daily boost that horror themed films experienced yesterday, but was still able to lead the daily box office fairly comfortable nonetheless. Argo fell 3 percent from Tuesday and was up 10 percent over last Wednesday. The film has grossed a stronger than expected $64.29 million in 20 days and is in great shape to hold up well once again over the upcoming weekend.

Horror films claimed the next three spots on Wednesday thanks to Halloween bumps. Audiences were fairly evenly split between the three horror choices for the day, with Paramount's Paranormal Activity 4 leading the pack with a second place take of $1.04 million. Lionsgate's Sinister placed in third with $0.833 million, while Open Road's Silent Hill: Revelation 3D finished in fourth with $0.830 million. Respective daily percentage increases over Tuesday were 52 percent for Paranormal Activity 4, 67 percent for Sinister and 20 percent for Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. To date, Paranormal Activity 4 has grossed $44.70 million in 13 days, Sinister has grossed $41.12 million in 20 days and Silent Hill: Revelation 3D has grossed $10.07 million in six days.

Getting a smaller Halloween bump on Wednesday was Sony's Hotel Transylvania. The 3D computer animated blockbuster was up 8 percent over Tuesday to round out the day's top five with $0.826 million. Hotel Transylvania has grossed $132.43 million through 34 days of release.

The Halloween holiday wasn't nearly as kind to Warner's Cloud Atlas. The pricey film from the Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer fell 20 percent and four spots from Tuesday to finish in sixth with $0.812 million. The six-day total for Cloud Atlas stands at a disappointing $12.16 million.
