The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 grossed $2.55 million on Monday to lead the daily box office for an eleventh consecutive day. The fifth and final installment of the blockbuster fantasy franchise fell 72 percent from Sunday and 75 percent from last Monday. With the Thanksgiving holiday now behind us, daily grosses in general came back down to Earth on Monday. Breaking Dawn - Part 2 has grossed $229.92 million in eleven days. That places the film 3 percent ahead of the $223.36 million eleven-day start of last year's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and 1.5 percent behind the $233.33 million eleven-day take of 2009's The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Fellow blockbuster Skyfall claimed second place for the day with $1.92 million. The 23rd installment of the James Bond franchise was down 72 percent from Sunday and down 52 percent from last Monday. Skyfall has grossed $223.07 million to date, as the film continues to distance itself from the previous unadjusted domestic totals of previous James Bond films. Skyfall currently trails the total domestic gross of Breaking Dawn - Part 2 by $6.85 million. Going forward it should be quite the race between the two films for domestic bragging rights.
Lincoln placed in third with $1.76 million. The Steven Spielberg directed drama starring Daniel Day-Lewis fell 70 percent from Sunday and down just 28 percent from last Monday. Thanks in part to very strong word of mouth, Lincoln continues to display terrific holding power early in its run. With a current domestic take of $64.60 million, it won't be long before the film zooms past the $79.88 million final domestic gross of last year's War Horse.
Life of Pi moved ahead of Rise of the Guardians in the daily rankings to finish in fourth on Monday with $1.36 million. Rise of the Guardians rounded out the day's top five with $0.84 million. Life of Pi fell 73 percent from Sunday, while Rise of the Guardians fell 84 percent; a sure sign that Rise of the Guardians is skewing more towards family audiences. With a stronger than expected six-day start of $31.94 million, Life of Pi currently trails the softer than expected $33.18 million six-day gross of Rise of the Guardians by a slim $1.25 million.
