Disney's Oz: The Great and Powerful grossed $3.29 million on Tuesday to lead the daily box office for a twelfth straight day. In the process, the 3D fantasy blockbuster cleared the $150 million mark yesterday. Oz: The Great and Powerful increased 13 percent over Monday and was down 54 percent from last Tuesday. With a twelve-day total of $150.25 million, Oz: The Great and Powerful is currently running 32 percent behind the $221.40 million twelve-day take of 2010's Alice in Wonderland and 16 percent stronger than the $129.07 million twelve-day gross of last year's The Lorax.
The Call held steady in second place with $1.56 million. Sony's R-rated thriller starring Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin was up a healthy 24 percent over Monday. The Call continues to exceed pre-release expectations with a five-day start of $19.93 million. That places the film 57 percent ahead of the $12.68 million five-day take of Perfect Stranger; which starred Halle Berry and was released by Sony back in April of 2007.
Warner's The Incredible Burt Wonderstone took in $0.89 million to remain in third. The PG-13 comedy starring Steve Carell and Jim Carrey was up 19 percent over Monday, but still continues to have a disappointing performance in the bigger picture. The Incredible Burt Wonderstone has grossed just $11.82 million in five days, which is obviously low by the box office standards of both Carell and Carrey.
