Universal's 2 Guns took in $2.99 million on Monday to lead the daily box office for a fourth consecutive day. The action film starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg fell 58 percent from Sunday. 2 Guns topped the $30 million mark yesterday and has grossed $30.05 million in four days, which is on the lower end of pre-release expectations. The film is currently running 5 percent ahead of the $28.52 million four-day start of last year's Contraband and 30 percent behind the $43.12 million four-day take of last year's Safe House. With both Warner's We're the Millers and Fox's Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters entering the marketplace on Wednesday, Tuesday should be the final day 2 Guns tops the daily box office.

The Wolverine placed in a fairly close second with $2.70 million. The sixth installment of Fox's X-Men franchise was down 57 percent from Sunday and down 51 percent from last Monday. The Wolverine has grossed a solid $97.34 million in eleven days, placing it 3 percent behind the $100.75 million elven-day gross of 2011's X-Men: First Class. The Wolverine will likely surpass the $100 million domestic mark today.

Sony's The Smurfs 2 took third place with $2.45 million. The computer animated / live action sequel was down just 50 percent from Sunday, though it should be noted that family films in general experienced healthy holds on Monday. With a lackluster six-day start of $29.56 million, The Smurfs 2 is running 12 percent behind the recent six-day start of Turbo and 42 percent behind the $51.11 million six-day take of 2011's The Smurfs (which opened on a Friday).

The Conjuring placed in fourth on Monday with $1.72 million. Warner's break-out horror hit was down 52 percent from Sunday and down a very respectable 41 percent from last Monday. Thanks in part to very strong holding power for its genre, The Conjuring has grossed a terrific $109.67 million through 18 days of release.

Universal's Despicable Me 2 rounded out the day's top five with $1.56 million. The blockbuster computer animated sequel from Universal and Illumination Entertainment fell 46 percent from Sunday and 32 percent from last Monday. With a 34-day take of $327.97 million, Despicable Me 2 is the second highest grossing release of 2013 thus far domestically.

In other box office news, Fox's The Heat surpassed the $150 million mark on Monday. The action comedy starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy took tenth place on Monday with $0.61 million and has now grossed $150.07 million to date. That currently ranks The Heat as the tenth highest grossing release of 2013 thus far domestically.
