Warner's We're the Millers took in $4.18 million on Tuesday to lead the daily box office for a second straight day. The R-rated comedy starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis was up 18 percent over Monday. It should be noted that Tuesday increases were especially strong among wide releases in general yesterday. We're the Millers has grossed a strong $45.61 million through its first week of release. That places the film 4 percent ahead of the $43.96 million seven-day start of 2008's Tropic Thunder. With positive early word of mouth and a limited amount of comedies entering the marketplace over the next month, We're the Millers is likely to hold up very well going forward.

Sony's Elysium grossed $3.93 million to remain in a close second place. The Neill Blomkamp directed sci-fi film starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster was up 15 percent over Monday and trailed We're the Millers by $251,608 for the day. Elysium has grossed $37.15 million in five days, which is towards the lower end of pre-release expectations. The film is currently running 21 percent behind the $47.12 million five-day start of 2009's District 9.

Disney's Planes held steady in third with $3.09 million. The DisneyToon Studios produced computer animated spin-off to the Cars franchise increased 24 percent over Monday's performance. Planes has grossed $27.81 million in five days, which is towards the lower end of expectations and places the film 61 percent ahead of the $17.29 million five-day take of last year's ParaNorman.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters remained in fourth place with $2.43 million. Fox's fantasy sequel increased 30 percent over Monday. Sea of Monsters has grossed $27.55 million in seven days, which is below expectations. The film is currently running 16 percent behind the recent $32.65 million seven-day start of The Smurfs 2 and 37 percent behind the $43.46 million one-week take of 2010's Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

The Smurfs 2 was up a very healthy 58 percent over Monday to round out the day's unchanged top five with $2.07 million.  The Sony sequel was down just 33 percent from last Tuesday, as it hast built some momentum during the midweek thus far with last week's debuts of Planes and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters now behind us. The Smurfs 2 has grossed $49.85 million in two weeks and will obviously pass the $50 million mark today.

Universal's 2 Guns passed the $50 million mark on Tuesday after taking in $1.59 million for the day. The action film starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg was up 27 percent over Monday and down 49.5 percent from last Tuesday. 2 Guns has taken in a respectable $51.48 million through twelve days of release, but has displayed underwhelming holding power so far.
