Lionsgate's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire rounded out its second week of release with a first place take of $309.66 million on Thursday. The blockbuster action-adventure sequel starring Jennifer Lawrence was down 3 percent from Wednesday and down 80 percent from last Thursday's inflated Thanksgiving Day performance. Catching Fire was the week's top film with a weekly take of $87.55 million. That was down 61 percent from the film's opening week performance and brings the film's two-week total to a massive $309.66 million. Catching Fire is currently running 15 percent ahead of the $269.34 million 14-day start of last year's The Hunger Games.

Disney's Frozen held steady in second place with $1.87 million. The blockbuster 3D computer animated film from Walt Disney Animation increased 2 percent over Wednesday's performance and was down 83 percent from last Thursday. Frozen took second place for the week with $76.10 million. The film continues to exceed expectations in a big way, as it has grossed $102.64 million after nine days of wide release. That places Frozen a very impressive 37 percent ahead of the $74.96 million nine-day start of 2010's Tangled. With Frozen skewing more towards family audiences than Catching Fire is, it could very well move into first place ahead of Catching Fire over the weekend.

Fellow Disney release Thor: The Dark World grossed $0.509 million to remain in third place. Marvel's blockbuster superhero sequel was up 2 percent over Wednesday and down 75 percent from last Thursday. Thor: The Dark World placed in third for the week with $13.28 million. That brings the film's four-week total to $188.899 million, which leaves the film $11.10 million away from reaching the $200 million domestic milestone.

Relativity's Out of the Furnace grossed $12,612 from 4 locations. That was down 13 percent from Wednesday and places the film's two-day platform launch at $27,076. The drama starring Christian Bale and Woody Harrelson expands into wide release today.
