The Hunger Games: Catching Fire added $3.02 million to its haul on Wednesday, giving it a 25 percent drop from Tuesday. With $306.73 million earned domestically so far, Catching Fire is 16.7 percent ahead of the pace of last year's The Hunger Games.
Disney's Frozen slipped 27 percent from Tuesday to $1.83 million yesterday as it crossed the $100 million threshold. The animated hit has tallied $100.8 million, or about 37 percent more than 2010's Tangled through the same point of release. Frozen is likely to overtake Catching Fire as the top film this coming weekend.
Homefront grabbed $0.479 million on Wednesday, off 32 percent from Tuesday. The thriller has accumulated $11.42 million since debuting last Wednesday, 17.1 percent off the pace of 2010's Faster.
Thor: The Dark World inched closer to the $200 million benchmark. The Marvel sequel was down 24 percent from Tuesday to $498,492 and its domestic cume stands at $188.39 million.
Meanwhile, Relativity Media debuted Out of the Furnace in 4 locations on Wednesday to the tune of $14,464. BoxOffice is forecasting an opening weekend around $7 million from 2,101 locations.
