Fox's Deadpool took in $8.02 million on Thursday to dominate the daily box office for a seventh consecutive day. The blockbuster Ryan Reynolds led antihero film was down a reasonable 7 percent from Wednesday. Deadpool blew away pre-release expectations this week with a massive seven-day start of $180.39 million. That was 28 percent stronger than the $141.33 million seven-day take of 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand and a very impressive 39 percent stronger than the $129.47 million seven-day gross of 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Clearly, Deadpool has successfully expanded beyond the typical X-Men fanbase with its performance thus far. Deadpool will obviously have no problem remaining in first place at the box office this weekend.

Fellow Fox release Kung Fu Panda 3 held steady in a distant second with $1.24 million. The 3D computer animated sequel from DreamWorks Animation was up 1 percent over Wednesday and up a healthy 22 percent over last Thursday. Kung Fu Panda 3 placed in second for the week with $30.34 million. That represented a 16 percent increase over the previous frame and brings the film's three-week total to $104.60 million. Kung Fu Panda 3 is currently running 16 percent behind the $124.16 million three-week gross of last year's Hotel Transylvania 2.

Warner's How to Be Single took in $1.12 million to remain in third place. The romantic comedy from New Line and MGM featuring Dakota Johnson was up an encouraging 4 percent over Wednesday. How to Be Single took third place this week with a solid seven-day start of $23.54 million. The film is performing in line with pre-release expectations and is running 14 percent ahead of the $20.64 million seven-day take of 2009's Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Zoolander 2 rounded out its lackluster first week of release with a fourth place take of $0.671 million. Paramount's PG-13 rated comedy sequel starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson declined a slim 1 percent from Wednesday. Zoolander 2 finished in fourth place this week with a softer than expected seven-day launch of $17.55 million. That was a disappointing 7 percent below the $18.82 million seven-day start of 2001's Zoolander.

Disney's Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Fox's The Revenant claimed fifth and sixth place with respective daily grosses of $0.480 million and $0.448 million. For the week, The Force Awakens placed in fifth with $9.16 million, while The Revenant followed in sixth with $9.05 million. Respective total grosses stand at a record setting $917.81 million for The Force Awakens and at an impressive $161.32 million for The Revenant.
