Fan growth for Monday, June 7.
The Karate Kid's most active Facebook page saw a daily fan growth of 1,220, pushing its total to 301,345. To put that into perspective, Shrek Forever After posted a 2,403 fan daily increase on the Monday before it hit theaters. While the two films don't appeal to exactly the same audience, there is some overlap considering that both are certainly family friendly.
BoxOffice.com is currently predicting a $37 million opening for The Karate Kid, which would be a little more than half of Shrek 4's $70.8 million weekend.
Check back tomorrow for continued analysis of The Karate Kid as well as a look at The A-Team's growth.
