Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles


- The built-in, nostalgic brand appeal to 20- and 30-somethings who grew up on the original cartoons, in addition to newer (and younger) fans won over by the well-rated cartoon reboot.
- Star Megan Fox and producer Michael Bay add key name recognition to this reboot.
- Paramount's marketing campaign has achieved high penetration in recent weeks.
- Social media trends have been encouraging.


- The explosion of Guardians of the Galaxy last week, and its word of mouth, could limit upfront appeal.
- Reviews haven't been kind thus far as the film registers a 33 percent Rotten Tomatoes score at the time of publishing.
- Will audiences be that eager to see a film from Bay that he didn't actually direct?

The Hundred-foot Journey

- Warner Bros.' mounted a respectable marketing campaign in front of numerous summer hits.
- The film' PLF release could attract those looking for a visual effects-driven flick.


- With no box office draws among the cast, the film's effects are the only selling points.
- Competition from Guardians and Turtles should hinder any demand for another action-oriented flick.

Step Up All In


- The franchise's built-in fan base could show up again here.
- Social media trends have been notably healthy.


- The law of diminishing returns already set in with previous sequels in the series, so it likely will again.
- Competition for the teenage audience will still be stiff thanks to Guardians and Turtles.
