New Worldwide Total: $1.008 Billion for 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II'

Sunday (7/31) Update: WB is reporting that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II has crossed the $1 billion mark in worldwide box office, only the 9th film in history to reach that milestone. To date, the film has earned $318.46 million at the US box office and $690 million internationally, bringing its total to $1.008 billion.

Wednesday (7/27) Update: WB is reporting that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II grabbed another $6.48 million domestically and $17.9 million abroad on Tuesday, pushing its worldwide total to $882 million.

Tuesday (7/26) Update: WB is reporting that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II was able to take in $6.47 million on Monday, pushing its domestic total to $280 million.

Monday (7/25) Update: WB is reporting that the official sophomore weekend haul for Deathly Hallows: Part II is $47.442 million for a total of $273.5 million. The final international figure is $120.2 million for a total of $559 million abroad.

Sunday (7/24) Update: Deathly Hallows: Part II added $48.065 million domestically and $121.3 million internationally this weekend, pushing its worldwide total to $834.6 million.

Wednesday Update: Warner Bros. is reporting that Deathly Hallows: Part II grossed $34 million internationally on Tuesday.  That places the film's international total at $390 million and worldwide total at $592.6 million.

Domestically, Deathly Hallows: Part II grossed $15.39 million on Tuesday and in the process reached the $200 million domestic milestone.  The film's domestic total stands at $202.62 million.

Tuesday Update #2: Warner Bros. is reporting that Deathly Hallows: Part II managed another $41 million on Monday, pushing its total abroad to $355 million. The worldwide total for the last Potter film is now $542.22 million.

Tuesday Update: Warner Bros. is reporting an $18.043 million domestic take on Monday for Deathly Hallows: Part II.

Monday Update: The final weekend numbers for Deathly Hallows: Part II are in: $169.2 domestic and $312.3 million worldwide for a total of $481.5 million. WB underestimated the international number by over $5 million.

Sunday Update: Warner Bros. is estimating that Deathly Hallows: Part II will bring in $168.5 million during its debut frame based on a Friday haul of $92.1 million and a Saturday total of $42.85 million.

Saturday Update #2: Deathly Hallows: Part II took in another $75 million from 59 countries on Friday. The international total now stands at $157.5 million. Worldwide total is $249.6 million.

Saturday Update: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II now holds the opening day record thanks to a staggering $92.1 million haul on Friday. The previous record holder was The Twilight Saga: New Moon with $72.7 million. There's no doubt that Potter will shatter Dark Knight's opening of $158.4 million. Boxoffice.com is currently projecting $172 million for the weekend.

Friday Update #2: With $37.6 million from international territories on Thursday, Deathly Hallows: Part II has now raked in $82.5 million overseas. Part II is outpacing Part I by 39% and Half-Blood Prince by 42%. 3D accounts for 61% of the total abroad.

Friday Update: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II managed a staggering $43.5 million from midnight shows, easily breaking the $30 million record by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse last summer.

Comparatively, Deathly Hallows: Part I managed $24 million from midnight shows.

Thursday Update: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II managed $43.6 million from 26 countries on Wednesday. That puts it 86% ahead of Part I and 49% higher than Half-Blood Prince.

Advance ticket sales have skyrocketed to more than $32 million, a new pre-opening record. Many midnight and first-day show times are already sold out across the country, despite the fact that the movie will be showing on more than 11,000 screens in 4,375 locations—both marking records for the Harry Potter series—with more than 3,800 locations opening the film at midnight on Thursday night. Breaking another industry record, the film is being released on 274 IMAX screens nationwide.

Wednesday Update #1: The official release from Fandango:

LOS ANGELES -- Although there are two more days before the July 15 release date, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 has already leaped over the year's previous box office winners to become Fandango's top-selling title of the year so far.

Fandango has sold more tickets for Part 2 than it has sold for any other movie this year, including pre-release and post-release ticket sales.
