Commentary: Sad to see Viola Davis lose this one.

Best Actor:

Jean Dujardin, The Artist

Commentary: Dujardin has to be careful about picking roles now, or he'll fade fast.

Best Director:

Michel Hazanivicius, The Artist

Commentary: Let's see if this guy can stick around as long as Scorsese, Payne, Allen and Malick.

Best Animated Short:

The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore

Best Documentary Short:

Saving Face

Best Live Action Short Film:

The Shore

Best Original Screenplay:

Midnight in Paris

Commentary: "You just won an Oscar, Woody!" "Yes, but I'm going to die some day."

Best Adapted Screenplay:

The Descendants

Commentary: Great pick in a very strong category.

Best Original Song:

"Man or Muppet" by Bret McKenzie

Commentary: Yes!!! Great song choice, Academy.

Best Original Score:

The Artist

Best Supporting Actor:

Christopher Plummer, Beginners

Commentary: And Christopher Plummer wins for his entire career. Well deserved.

Best Visual Effects:


Commentary: Thought Rise of the Planet of the Apes win this one, but I guess it was no match for the Hugo juggernaut.

Best Animated Film:

Best Sound Mixing:


Commentary: 4 wins already! Go Team Scorsese.

Best Sound Editing:


Commentary: Tons of love for Hugo. Please let it upset The Artist for Best Pic.

Best Editing:

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Commentary: A surprise win! Good. The show needs more of that.

Best Supporting Actress:

Octavia Spencer, The Help

Commentary: A standing ovation? Wow. That's a great Oscar moment.

Best Foreign Language Film:

A Separation

Commentary: A no-brainer and 100% deserved. A much-needed political statement.

Best Make-Up:

The Iron Lady

Best Costume Design:

Mark Bridges, The Artist

Best Art Direction:


Commentary: 2 quick wins for Hugo in very tough categories. Lots of love for Scorsese.

Best Cinematography:

Robert Richardson, Hugo

Commentary: A huge win for the 3D movement. Still, I was really rooting for Tree of Life.
