BRAZIL: 'Cro' Dethrones 'Catching Fire'

Super Cro is the latest Brazilian comedy to top the country’s
box office chart in a year that has seen numerous local hits. The film is a
spin-off of a popular soap opera character and the adaptation to film didn’t
disappoint as Super Cro led the weekend box office with a $1.7 million bow. The
Hunger Games: Catching Fire slid down to second place with a $1.5 million
weekend in its third frame and reaching a $13.7 million cume in the market.
Thor: The Dark World posted its first weekend under the $1 million mark as the superhero sequel climbed to a $25.3 million cume. Thor: The Dark World is the third highest grossing film of the year in Brazil behind Despicable Me 2 ($35.4M) and Iron Man 3 ($47.8M).
