VALENTINE'S BOX OFFICE BATTLE OF THE SEXES: WOMEN CHOOSE ROMANCE, WHILE MEN WANT ACTION
LOS ANGELES - February 13, 2014 - "The LEGO Movie" and Kevin Hart's romantic comedy remake of "About Last Night" are topping Fandango's Fanticipation movie buzz indicator, scoring 85 and 80 points, respectively, out of 100 points.
While "The LEGO Movie," in its second week of release, leads the weekend's ticket sales on Fandango, "About Last Night" is the top-selling new release of the weekend and outpacing last year's Valentine's Day opener, "Safe Haven," at the same point in its sales cycle. With all four new releases ("About Last Night," "RoboCop," "Endless Love," and "Winter's Tale") seeing solid sales on Fandango, the three-day weekend is shaping up to be Fandango's top Valentine's Day weekend since 2010 (when "Avatar," "Dear John," "Valentine's Day" and other hits were all playing in theaters).
Fandango surveyed more than 1,000 ticket-buyers this week, asking men and women to select the movies they really wanted to see this Valentine's weekend. The box office battle of the sexes can be seen in their notably different choices, with only "About Last Night" appearing on both lists. According to the online survey, the top selections are as follows:

"The latest Fandango survey shows how male and female moviegoers make their cinematic selections," says Fandango Chief Correspondent Dave Karger. "Romantic choices like ‘Endless Love' and ‘Winter's Tale' made the women's list, while the men opted for action-oriented movies like ‘RoboCop,' ‘Monuments Men' and ‘Lone Survivor.' However, the sexes agree on one movie, as "About Last Night' ranked as a top pick for both men and women."
