The Amazing Spider-Man 2 took in $6.24 million on Tuesday to lead the daily box office for a fifth consecutive day. In the process, the second film in Sony's re-launched superhero franchise surpassed the $100 million mark yesterday. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was up a healthy 21 percent over Monday, though it should be noted that Tuesday holds were strong in general yesterday due in part to Monday's grosses being deflated a bit by Cinco de Mayo. With a solid five-day take of $103.02 million, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is currently running 1.6 percent ahead of the $101.39 million five-day start of last year's Thor: The Dark World and 5 percent behind the recent $108.22 million five-day take of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Fox's The Other Woman held steady in second place with $1.54 million. The modestly budgeted comedy starring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton was up an impressive 48 percent over Monday and down 41 percent from last Tuesday. The Other Woman surpassed the $50 million mark yesterday and continues to outpace expectations with a twelve-day take of $50.13 million. That places the film 16 percent ahead of the $43.10 million twelve-day gross of 2008's What Happens in Vegas.

Heaven is for Real held steady in third place with $0.848 million. Sony's break-out faith-based drama increased a strong 41 percent over Monday and was down 39 percent from last Tuesday. Heaven is for Real continues to distance itself significantly from pre-release expectations with a very strong $66.95 million through three weeks of release.

Disney's Captain America: The Winter Soldier took in $0.664 million to remain in fourth. The blockbuster superhero sequel was up 30 percent over Monday and down 51 percent from last Tuesday. Captain America: The Winter Soldier continues to impress in a big way with a 33-day take of $238.33 million. That leaves the film just $11.67 million away from clearing the $250 million domestic mark.

Rio 2 rounded out the day's unchanged top five with $0.441 million. The computer animated sequel was up 31 percent over Monday and down 40 percent from last Tuesday. With a 26-day take of $107.36 million, Rio 2 is currently running 7.5 percent behind the $116.10 million 26-day take of 2011's Rio.
