LOS ANGELES - April 29, 2015 - According to Fandango, the nation's leading digital destination for moviegoers and fans with more than 36 million unique visitors per month*, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is heading for what looks like a historic box office weekend.

"Ultron" is responsible for more than 95% of this weekend's ticket sales on Fandango, selling out hundreds of showtimes at theaters across the country and garnering the highest score possible (100 out of 100 points) on Fanticipation, Fandango's movie buzz indicator. "Ultron" was also selected as the summer's most anticipated movie in a Fandango survey of thousands of ticket-buyers.

"The Fandango presales are looking heroic, due to an unprecedented level of anticipation for this summer's first blockbuster and more fans buying their tickets in advance," says Fandango Chief Correspondent Dave Karger. "'Age of Ultron' is a robust follow-up to one of the highest-grossing movies ever released, and it comes with sensational buzz for its new characters and returning favorites. The result is a rare 100 Fanticipation score and what could be the biggest opening weekend of all time."

According to a Fandango survey of more than 1,000 "Avengers: Age of Ultron" moviegoers:
96% are already looking forward to seeing the "Avengers: Infinity War" movies;

88% will see the movie on opening weekend;

74% identify themselves as fans of director Joss Whedon;

36% picked Ultron (James Spader) as the new-to-"Avengers" character they're most looking forward to seeing; 21% picked Vision (Paul Bettany); 20% picked Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), and 17% picked Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson).

About Fandango's Fanticipation
Known for having its finger on the pulse of moviegoers, Fandango's movie buzz indicator, Fanticipation, provides statistical insight into the movies fans are planning to see in a given weekend. Fanticipation scores (based on a 1 to 100-point scale) are calculated via an algorithm of Fandango's advance ticket sales, website and mobile traffic, and social media engagement. Fanticipation is not intended as a forecast of the weekend box office; it is a snapshot of movie fan sentiment.
