NORTH AMERICA: 'Inside Out' Remains #1 on Tuesday with $6.44M; 'Jurassic World' #2 with $4.84M; 'Terminator Genisys' #3 with $3.99M; 'Magic Mike XXL' #4 with $3.21M

Inside Out took in $6.44 million on Tuesday to remain in first place. The critically acclaimed 3D computer animated blockbuster from Disney and Pixar has led the daily box office for seven of the past nine days. Inside Out was up a healthy 30 percent over Monday and down just 27 percent from last Tuesday. The film's midweek grosses are likely getting an extra boost this week from moviegoers who are catching the film before Universal's highly anticipated Minions enters the marketplace on Friday. The 19-day total for Inside Out stands at a stronger than expected $257.29 million. The film is running 16 percent ahead of the $221.99 million 19-day take of 2013's Monsters University and 16 percent behind the $307.82 million 19-day gross of 2010's Toy Story 3.

Jurassic World continued to claim second with $4.84 million. The 3D blockbuster sequel from Universal and Legendary increased 17 percent over Monday and decreased a solid 35 percent from last Tuesday. Jurassic World has grossed a massive $565.53 million in 26 days and is currently the fourth highest grossing film of all-time without adjusting for ticket price inflation. The film is running $38.36 million and 7 percent ahead of the $527.17 million 26-day take of 2012's Marvel's The Avengers.

Paramount's Terminator Genisys held steady in third place with $3.99 million. The pricey Arnold Schwarzenegger led 3D sci-fi action sequel was up 16.5 percent over Monday. Terminator Genisys has grossed $49.88 million in its first week and will obviously surpass the $50 million mark today. The film is performing a bit below its already scaled back expectations and in the bigger picture is performing softly with its price tag and the Terminator franchise in mind. Terminator Genisys is running 31 percent behind the $71.86 million seven-day take of 2009's Terminator Salvation.

Warner's Magic Mike XXL grossed $3.21 million to remain in fourth. The modestly budgeted Channing Tatum led sequel was up a strong 37 percent over Monday. On the heels of this weekend's soft performance, Magic Mike XXL has rebounded a bit during the midweek as it experienced the strongest daily percentage hold among wide releases on both Monday and Tuesday. However, the film is still running well below expectations with a seven-day start of $33.45 million. That places Magic Mike XXL a disappointing 41.5 percent behind the $57.19 million seven-day take of 2012's Magic Mike.

Ted 2 rounded out the day's unchanged top five with $2.29 million. The Seth MacFarlane directed comedy sequel from Universal and MRC was up 15 percent over Monday, which represented the day's smallest daily percentage increase among wide releases. Ted 2 has grossed $62.79 million in twelve days. That is much softer than expected and is a very disappointing 51 percent below the $129.08 million twelve-day gross of 2012's Ted.

Max took sixth place with $1.58 million. The modestly budgeted family film from Warner Bros. and MGM was up 36 percent over Monday and down only 19 percent from last Tuesday. Max has grossed a solid $28.12 million in twelve days. The film is running in line with expectations and 14 percent ahead of the $24.59 million twelve-day take of last year's Earth to Echo.
