First Moviegoing App on Apple Watch Launches Friday, Just in Time for Next Week's "Avengers: Age of Ultron" Opening and Summer Movie Season

CINEMACON/LAS VEGAS (April 20, 2015) - Fandango, the nation's leading digital destination for moviegoers, announced today the official launch of its new movie ticketing and engagement app for Apple Watch, starting this Friday.

The Fandango app for Apple Watch was designed to elegantly deliver to your wrist all the essential information needed to make moviegoing a breeze. Once a Fandango movie ticket for participating theaters is purchased on an iPhone, a mobile barcoded ticket is delivered to the Apple Watch. The ticket can then be scanned by the ticket-taker for quick and easy access to the theater. The app also provides other key information including a countdown-to-showtime clock, directions to the theater, list of theater amenities including reserved seating and dine-in options, and more.

For the ultimate film fans, the app will also deliver engaging movie trivia, including film quote quizzes and fun shareable facts about the movie they just viewed. In future updates to the app, moviegoers will also be able to quickly rate a film and share their ratings with others, as well as receive other valuable movie notifications.

"The Apple Watch will help us deliver great excitement around the movies and bring even more ease to the moviegoing experience," says Fandango President Paul Yanover. "It will be exciting to see Fandango moviegoers walk into theaters with their summer movie tickets, not in their hands or their phones, but on their wrists."

The Fandango app for Apple Watch will be available on the Apple Watch App Store beginning April 24. The Fandango app for iPhone is available now as a free downloaded from the App Store.

Fandango is everywhere consumers are discovering movies and making their moviegoing decisions. Fandango is the primary ticketer across many leading technology platforms and connected devices including Apple's iOS devices (iPhone, iPad), Siri, Passbook and the new Apple Watch, Google Now, Samsung's Smart TVs, phones and tablets, IMDb, AOL, MSN, Yahoo!, and others. A leading provider of movie trailers and movie-related video content, Fandango has channels and apps on Hulu, Roku and Samsung's Milk Video Service, and operates the number one movie trailers channel on YouTube with Fandango Movieclips.
