Kingdom Come

   When the patriarch of a household passes away, it is usually a time for family members to gather, pay their respects and remember the good times. But what if there wasn't much to respect or any good times to reminisce about? In the comedy "Kingdom Come," we meet such a family. The very idea of finding something positive to say about the much-loathed deceased sparks bitter arguments. The fact that no one is willing to foot the bill for the funeral leads to backstabbing and underhand dealings, while infidelity, jealousy and past grievances all surface on the not-so-somber occasion.

   There are several funny moments, primarily thanks to comedian Cedric the Entertainer's antics as a lisping minister, while LL Cool J and Whoopi Goldberg are the pillars for both the other characters and the movie, successfully playing the straight man and the shoulder to cry on, respectively. However, it is difficult to find anything interesting about the onscreen bickering and distress concerning repeatedly harped-upon issues.    Starring LL Cool J, Whoopi Goldberg, Anthony Anderson, Jada Pinkett Smith, Vivica Fox and Cedric the Entertainer.
