The two grow up in the small town of Spencer, where Angela's childhood is marked by an alcoholic, man-chasing mother (Theresa Russell). Although John's wise elder of a father (Gordon Tootoosis) takes the girl under his spiritual wing with some native hocus-pocus, she spirals downward through a treacherous first love (Gabriel Olds), a near gang rape and Hollywood success extinguished by a conveniently terminal illness. Back home again, Angela reunites with John in an incredibly sappy I-see-dead-people conclusion. Starring Mia Kirshner, Adam Beach, Theresa Russell, Gordon Tootoosis, Gabriel Olds and Callum Keith Rennie. Directed by Bob Clark. Written by Bill Boyle. Produced by Leanne Arnott and David Doerksen. No distributor set. Drama. Not yet rated. Running time: 103 min.
